How to choose plant delivery

Plant delivery costs and freshness guarantees vary widely, so compare the entry price, delivery fee, product range and returns window of each brand against your own needs.

Start with the entry price, then add delivery

A plant order is a one-off purchase rather than a subscription, so the number that sets your budget is the cheapest item each brand sells. Across the brands in our plant delivery rankings, entry prices run €5.81 to €60.51. That span is wide enough that the cheapest brand on the shelf is rarely the cheapest on the invoice once you have paid for carriage.

Three entry prices show how the comparison works. notonthehighstreet lists items from £0.80. Serenata Flowers starts at £22.99. Blumenshop starts at €19.95. Note that notonthehighstreet and Serenata Flowers price in pounds while Blumenshop prices in euros, so a direct comparison needs the same currency on both sides.

Delivery fees decide the real total

A low entry price says little about the cost of a single plant or a small bouquet. The delivery fee is the line that decides the total, and it is structured very differently across brands.

Blumenshop charges a flat €5.95 for delivery. Serenata Flowers uses a banded fee of £0 to £3.95, so the amount you pay depends on the order. Read the Blumenshop review and the Serenata Flowers review side by side to see how that fixed charge compares with a banded one, especially if you are ordering several plants in one basket to spread the carriage cost.

What the catalogue actually contains

Plants sit alongside other products in most of these ranges, and the mix affects what you can fulfil in one order. Blumenshop and Serenata Flowers both list bouquets, letterbox flowers and plants and bouquets, letterbox flowers and plants, which means you can combine a plant with flowers in the same delivery and pay one delivery fee.

notonthehighstreet sells a different set of hampers, personalized and photo gifts, so if your brief is live plants it is a thinner fit. It also offers personalization, which matters when the plant is a gift and you want a card or photo added. Blumenshop offers personalization too. Check the product type list for each brand against what you actually want to send before you compare anything else.

Speed, cut-off times and where they deliver

The speed promise is only useful if you can get your order in before the cut-off. Serenata Flowers offers same day delivery and its order cut-off is 9pm. Blumenshop offers next day delivery but no same day delivery, and its cut-off falls in the afternoon on the day before delivery, set earlier in the Netherlands and Belgium than in Germany. Fleurop offers next day delivery with a cut-off of 15:00 Mon-Fri, 11:00 Sat for same-day delivery.

A later cut-off is worth more than a faster label when you are ordering in the evening for the next morning. Read the cut-off alongside the speed promise, not separately.

Markets narrow the choice further. notonthehighstreet and Serenata Flowers both serve GB, and Blumenshop serves DE, BE and NL, which spans more than a single market. If you are outside a brand's markets, the price and fee comparison stops mattering.

Freshness guarantees, returns and who to call

Live plants and cut flowers are perishable, so the guarantee is the part of the terms that does the most work. Blumenshop, Serenata Flowers and Fleurop each give a freshness guarantee of 7 days, 7 days and 7 days respectively. Among the brands here the guarantees line up, so use them as a baseline rather than a differentiator.

Returns then decide how painful a bad delivery is. Blumenshop allows returns within 30 days. notonthehighstreet allows returns within 28 days, and its vouchers stay valid for 12 months if you spend on gifts rather than plants.

Support routes are the last practical check. Serenata Flowers, Blumenshop and notonthehighstreet all offer email, chat and help centre channels, so a problem can be raised by email or live chat. Blumenshop adds phone support, which is useful if you have a wilted plant in front of you and want a conversation rather than a ticket. The notonthehighstreet review is worth reading for how its help centre works in practice.

Standing and the wider set of options

Two of these brands have been trading for a long stretch. Fleurop was founded in 1908 and Serenata Flowers in 2003. A long history on its own does not settle a comparison, but it is context when you weigh a newer marketplace against a specialist florist.

Look beyond the four brands here if none of them fit your list. Our rankings also cover Euroflorist, FromYouFlowers, Funky Pigeon, Patch: Plants and Arena Flowers, while the Fleurop review covers the specialist end of the market.

Work through the comparison in one order: entry price, then delivery fee, then catalogue fit, then cut-off and markets, then guarantee and returns. Price sets the shortlist, the rest of the terms decide which brand on it you actually order from.
